View yourself as others see you
My aim with Medical Tattooing and working closely with clinical psychologists is to alleviate anxiety whilst building confidence.
View yourself and your Medical Tattooing by standing in front of a mirror about 1 m away. Glance at yourself as a whole. View yourself as others see you. We are so critical of ourselves and yet if you ask your friends, your partner, your mother et cetera they would see the beauty in you. Let’s try and start to see ourselves the way others see us. Camouflage Cream and Medical Tattooing may not give you 10 out of 10 perfection when looking really closely at yourself but could give you an 8 out of 10 quality that looks 10 out of 10 to others.
When patients come to me with a concern, they are sometimes embarrassed, anxious, and concerned about how I may view them. Whether it’s a large visible difference or a very small one, their level of concern comes down to how harshly they judge the difference. Maybe they’ve experienced bullying or constant comments, experienced well-meaning questions sometimes on a daily basis, or maybe the anxiety is internal. A lot of it comes down to trying to not let others see the area of concern and spending so much energy on that.
Patient Testimonial
I went to see Rae for camouflage of the thread veins in my legs, I had already been through sclerotherapy treatment but still felt anxious about how one area looked. As I looked down at my legs, they were all I could see. Rae asked me to look in a mirror about a metre away and view my legs as others do. In fairness, they didn’t look too bad! Rae mixed me the perfect skin tone match of camouflage cream, and taught me how to apply it properly which made all the difference. I accept how my legs look and are not drawn to the veins when looking in the mirror. I do use the camouflage cream on occasions which gives me that extra boost of confidence.
Thank you Rae – Nicola
Alleviate Anxiety
My aim with Medical Tattooing and working closely with clinical psychologists is to alleviate anxiety whilst building confidence. One simple way to help this process whilst going through the Medical tattooing process is:
Focus on an area of your face or body that you do like. Spend at least 5 minutes a day focusing on that area. That will start to retrain your mind and set new neural pathways that will continue to build over time. Every time you check the healing process of the tattooing, and every time you apply the aftercare balm, finish by concentrating on the chosen area. This may just be for 5 seconds, but make sure those 5 seconds count. Each time.
What matters most is how you talk to yourself, often we are our own harshest judge. Maybe today is the time to start treating yourself how you would like others to treat you. Remember others may judge, ridicule, be mean or inconsiderate, but that has nothing to do with you – that says more about them. What matters is whether you judge, ridicule, or be mean and inconsiderate to yourself. That, is to do with you.
Always be kind – start with yourself.
The wound is the place where the light enters you – RUMI.
