I’m delighted to accept this award for the Best Life Changing Procedure (Medical Tattooing), presented by The Finishing Touches Group. My two entries were regarding nipple/areola tattooing and scalp tattooing, both of which were truly life changing for both of these clients.
My first patient had a double mastectomy and reconstruction approximately 5 years beforehand. She had thought for a long time about finishing off her surgery with medical tattooing. This was important to her as it finalised her long journey with cancer, and she could look in the mirror and feel comfortable with the image she saw reflected. Everyone chooses different options when it comes to mastectomy and reconstruction, and it’s having an informed choice that is so important to patients.

My second patient had extremely thin hair with areas of baldness over her scalp from birth. She had also experienced a car accident that resulted in extensive scarring at the back of her scalp. I spent hours using medical tattooing with hair strokes to camouflage the areas of baldness so her hair looked thicker, and she didn’t need to be conscious of pinning her hair up to cover these areas all the time.
